General Role Description

The role of the Project Manager is to safely and efficiently manage the delivery of water and wastewater treatment contracts that have been won by the estimation team. Projects need to be delivered on time and on budget and it is essential the client is delighted with our performance. Key to this will be the understanding of all commercial and mechanical aspects of all projects undertaken as well as the leadership of the site team.

It is expected that the role will have a significant amount of travel. There will be interaction within the project team, but also with estimation and the fabrication workshop. The Project Manager will be responsible for all onsite activities including management of contractors and Filtec personnel. Onsite health and safety will be a key component of this role.

Specific Tasks:

  • Liaise with clients and engineers to ensure customer satisfaction at the conclusion of each job
  • Review and understand contract documents including FIDIC, NEC and 3910
  • Work with the estimation team to ensure accurate estimates including site visits and review process of tenders
  • Manage multiple projects of value up to $5 million
  • Maintain or increase the margin estimated for each project
  • Complete site specific Health and Safety Plan and ensure H&S compliance onsite
  • Establish project programmes and schedule all equipment
  • Effective procurement ensuring quality and price
  • Organise cost effective sub‐contractors as required
  • Ensuring project cash‐flow is regularly updated, (budget and forecasting)
  • Ensure resource planning is sufficient and well communicated to the resource planner
  • Ensure process design is appropriate and ensure a good set of PID’s and fabrication drawings
  • Work with workshop to ensure project work is scheduled and that the drawings are easily understood
  • Ensure all project QA and manuals are completed at an appropriate time and all projects are completed in full on programme
  • Organise commissioning and handover
  • All client communication should be promptly dealt with and filed in the job folder

Required Experience:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience
  • General construction skills a broad knowledge of construction activities.
  • Project management
  • Team management
  • Good knowledge of water and wastewater treatment
  • Excellent communication skills.
