The FILTEC Lamp Recycling Service (LRS) is automatically available when purchasing replacement UV lamps from FILTEC, with recycling charges added to lamp quotations.

LRS customers receive:

  • Return Authorisation (RA) processing

  • Return packaging guidance

  • Instructions for safe lamp handling and return

  • Responsible recycling through FILTEC’s recycling partner

Customers with supported FILTEC-supplied lamps requiring recycling outside standard replacement orders can contact FILTEC to request an RA.

Receive Return Packaging Instructions

Select the Lamp Recycling Service and receive new lamps with return packaging and a Return Authorisation number.

Package Used Lamps Safely

Place used lamps into the supplied protective sleeves and outer packaging (tube or box) ready for transport.

Return Lamps for Recycling

Send lamps back to FILTEC only quoting your Return Authorisation number for responsible recycling.

How Used UV Lamps Are Recycled

FILTEC partners with an Auckland-based recycling specialist using a world class system called BLUBOX, to ensure used UV lamps are processed safely and responsibly.

Recovered materials are separated for recycling, including:

  • Glass recovery and reuse

  • Aluminium recycling

  • Safe extraction and disposal of mercury-containing components under controls

All processing is carried out using specialised recycling equipment designed for controlled handling of hazardous lamp materials.

Do UV lamps contain mercury?

Yes. UV lamps contain small amounts of mercury and should be disposed of responsibly through appropriate recycling processes.

Which UV lamp brands are accepted?

The service supports TrojanUV, Viqua, Xylem and Wedeco lamps supplied through FILTEC.

Do I need a Return Authorisation (RA)?

Yes. All lamp returns must have an approved RA before being sent to FILTEC.

Can broken lamps be returned?

No. Broken lamps cannot be accepted through the Lamp Recycling Service.

Who pays return freight?

Customers are responsible for arranging and paying return freight.

Is the service available to residential customers?

Yes. FILTEC’s Lamp Recycling Service is available to customers using supported FILTEC-supplied UV systems, including residential VIQUA systems and commercial or municipal UV installations.

Customers must obtain a Return Authorisation (RA) before sending lamps for recycling.

What happens to the recycled materials?

Glass, aluminium and other recoverable materials are separated for recycling, while mercury-containing components are safely extracted and disposed of under strict controls.
