Containerised Ultrafiltration System for Increased Water Demand
A key client in Victoria required an ultrafiltration plant expansion to meet growing water demand and maintain supply during peak periods. FILTEC had previously designed and commissioned the site’s original containerised water treatment plant, which continues to operate reliably under FILTEC service support.
Following review of the site’s future capacity needs, FILTEC was engaged to deliver a second 1.2 MLD containerised ultrafiltration system, doubling treatment capacity and strengthening long-term water resilience.
Expanding Bore Water Treatment Capacity Within Existing Infrastructure
The site required bore water ultrafiltration capacity while maintaining integration with the existing plant and supporting future demand. The upgrade also needed to improve chemical handling safety and maintain long-term operational reliability.
The upgrade required:
Additional 1.2 MLD capacity
Integration with the existing plant
Reliable peak demand performance
Safer chemical handling
The client needed a proven delivery partner with direct knowledge of the original system to provide a packaged water treatment plant suited to future demand.

Containerised Ultrafiltration Plant with DuPont LN40 Modules
FILTEC designed, fabricated and tested a 1.2 MLD containerised ultrafiltration system incorporating 18 upgraded DuPont LN40 modules. The enhanced membrane design delivers higher flow rates with fewer modules.
The self-contained system includes:
Ultrafiltration membrane modules
Coagulation process integration
Pumps and process pipework
CIP cleaning system
Air compressor equipment
The compact containerised design simplified integration with existing infrastructure while supporting efficient transport and installation.

OSEC Disinfection for Safer Chemical Handling
To improve operator safety and reduce hazardous chemical handling, FILTEC incorporated a 400 g/hr Xylem OSEC system for on-site sodium hypochlorite generation.
Using only salt and electricity, the OSEC system generates low-strength sodium hypochlorite, removing the need to handle or transport gas chlorine or high-strength liquid chlorine while maintaining reliable disinfection performance.
Off-Site Fabrication, Testing and Delivery
The containerised water treatment plant was fabricated and assembled at FILTEC’s workshop, enabling equipment, pipework and controls to be integrated before delivery.
Key delivery elements included:
Workshop fabrication
Factory acceptance testing
Containerised configuration
Existing infrastructure integration
Ongoing service support
The system was completed slightly ahead of schedule before shipment to Australia, with FILTEC continuing to provide servicing and technical support following commissioning.

Expanded Treatment Capacity and Safer Long-Term Operation
The ultrafiltration plant expansion doubled site treatment capacity to 2.4 MLD, improving supply resilience and supporting future demand.
The expansion delivers:
1.2 MLD of additional capacity
Improved supply resilience
Safer disinfection through OSEC
Higher membrane performance
Building on four years of reliable operation from the original FILTEC system, the second containerised ultrafiltration plant strengthens long-term capacity and safety.
