Customer Need
The overall objective of this contract was to design, procure, supply, manufacture, install, construct, test and commission a new lamella plate clarifier and associated works at the Casterton Water Treatment Plant (WTP).
What We Did
The scope of this project is the design, fabrication and installation of Lamella Clarifiers in addition the works included sludge removal, all associated pipework, valves, fittings and tie into inlet/outlet, overflow and sludge, reinforced concrete works, walkways, hydraulic control modification, removal and reinstatement of fencing and construction of access track, water sampling connections, sludge flow meter and the following analysers:
- Turbidity
- pH meter for combined inlet to flocculation tank
- Level switches in the flocculation tank
- Flowmeter in the new clarifier sludge tank
Also included within the scope of works electrical control system works for connection to the WTP programmable logic controller and SCADA system for monitoring and integrated control of the new clarifier with the overall WTP operation, lighting for access at the clarifier and flocculation tank, and all associated operation and maintenance manuals and “as constructed” drawings.
The Results
FILTEC was awarded the contract for this upgrade as the main contractor in a competitive tender scenario.
The process and mechanical aspects of the job were designed in house.
FILTEC successfully managed the mechanical installation team along with civil, electrical and automation subcontractors.
The mechanical fabrication and installation were undertaken in house, by a FILTEC fabrication team.
