Customer Need

FILTEC have been working alongside Matamata-Piako District on the renewal of 12 gravity filters across three sites in Matamata, Te Aroha and Morrinsville.

These gravity filters effectively remove fine particles from the water to enable safe drinking water to reach the townships.

What We Did

FILTEC was responsible for the removal of the old media, refurbishment of the filters – including replacement of filter nozzles, increasing backwash launder heights where necessary to improve efficiency as well as supply, installation, and commissioning of the new media.

The Results

All seven filters at Matamata and Te Aroha have been completed. 

The program of work has been paused during the summer period to ensure maximum water production capacity is available for what the locals are sure will be a long hot Kiwi summer. 

This leaves the five Morrinsville filters to be refurbished next year.

FILTEC also provided the commissioning resources during the valve replacement project which is on target for completion Autumn 2022.
